The Future of Fukei Hangout
We at Donut Productions have always said it’s our goal to bring you the best content we can, that we love producing and hopefully you love consuming. As a part of this we are constantly reviewing and revising what we do in the hopes of making it better.
Recently we have been discussing the FH show and have decided in order to keep things fresh (if you’ll excuse the pun!) we need to make some changes. With that in mind we want to announce the following two main changes:
Fukei Hangout will no longer be a monthly live show. Instead, live shows will be kept for either special SG events (graduation, transfers etc.) or special episodes (Fukei Award Show etc.). We hope this will make the live shows more special, higher quality and engaging.
The Donut Productions team will instead focus their efforts on creating content for the Fukei Hangout youtube channel, including all the kinds of things you told us in our survey you’d like to see (Top 5s, Reviews, Member Videos etc.) as well as some exciting new ideas!
We have made this decision after much discussion and in light of two main of points.
Firstly, the time commitments involved in producing a regular two hour long show including meetings, prep, production and the show itself have become increasingly difficult to manage over multiple timezones as day-to-day life develops for the team (new jobs, studying, other priorities etc.).
Secondly, with the ceasing of LoGirl and the new show on Fresh being behind a paywall/embargo it has become more difficult for the team to keep as up to date on one of the main outputs of SG. LoGirl was a major part of Fukei Hangout and without it we are conscious the show could just devolve into us just retelling news points. Much of these tend to be grad twitter posts, photo’s or Japan centered content (plays etc.) that is difficult for us to review in an interesting way as we don’t have access to it.
We hope that be focusing on video content rather than live, we can produce more polished, exciting content that you guys will love watching. It will be easier to manage behind the scenes and the hosts can also do more of the things that interest them personally (for example, Japanese language content) either individually or collaboratively.
We hope you’ll understand the reasons for these changes and will continue to visit our youtube channel for the new content. If you haven’t already you can subscribe here! We’re really excited about making new stuff and hope you’ll be excited to view it! If you’ve any thoughts or ideas for things you’d like to see please leave them in the comments!
Thanks to everyone who has tuned in the the show. We’ll see you soon.
