First impressions of the Saints Row reboot? I like it. I can understand people people being a bit hard on the general gameplay and story but think they're being a bit hard on those aspects. I'd see it as a good... maybe 7/10ish, six at the lowest....
Personally, at least, I've enjoyed the characters, the story is basic but not bad. The gameplay is basically SR3 with a fresh coat of paint and some minor changes. That said... I would give it 7/10 if it weren't for the bugs. There's a lot of them. I personally don't think most of them are particularly intrusive, but they add up and some of them are just... weird.
Examples: For some reason, on PS5, when I try to enable resistance on the dualsense' adaptive triggers, it also inverts x-axis movement. (I.E. I push forward on left stick and run backwards.) So, those menu options got linked, for some bizarre reason. I don't know why inverting you movement is even an option but... no I got nothing. Maybe there's a niche case I'm unaware of, though.
Sometimes, stores won't preview full-body clothes before you buy them like every other clothes category. Normally, I might brush this off as weird design but I did get them to preview once or twice. The worst bug I've personally is cars just deciding not to spawn the second I started insurance fraud.
Given that insurance fraud is side-mission where you throw yourself into traffic to rack up insurance money over a set time period, the cars just, not spawning is big deal. Fortunately quitting and realoading the game fixed but, well, yeah...
So, if they address the bugs, I'd say it's a good game. But this is a AAA in the year 2022; It's entirely up in the if, how and when bugs will be addressed.
