On Saturday morning, I woke up early thinking that I was going on a run with my Fiance's old running group. Little did I know that she had been planning for months to surprise me with a trip to see the Saints play the Falcons for my first ever game at the Superdome!
We woke up that morning and went meet up my future sister & brother in-laws as we were supposed to ride together to meet the running group. As we were walking to the car, my fiance hands me a piece of paper with the "directions" to the run. When I opened up the paper containing the "directions", I was instantly stunned to find Saints vs Falcons tickets. My fiance then told me that we were going straight to the airport to catch the game. She had already packed everything and we were going to hop into the car in our running clothes. I had just woken up and was having a hard time to process everything. "WAS I STILL ASLEEP!?" I kept thinking. Apparently all of my friends were aware of her plans and they all knew how perfect the plans were considering how often I talk about finally going to a game in New Orleans.
I have been a Saints fan since middle school and for one reason or another (besides no longer living in LA), I have never been to a Saints game in the Superdome. Every time I see a game on TV I get the chills just listening to the crowd and watching the atmosphere of the stadium. I am guessing most of you have been to a game and can attest to this, but the atmosphere in the dome is even CRAZIER than I expected. That place was totally rocking!
Not only did I get to see one of the most anticipated games of the season but I also got to see:
- Coach Payton/Steve Gleason start the Who Dat chant
- Marques Colston break the Saints reception record
- A heart-pounding victory!!
My description of this trip really doesn't do it justice but I just wanted to share with the world the amazing thing that my Fiance did for me this weekend and though you all would appreciate it. It was hands down the greatest surprise anyone ever could have done for me. I am so looking forward to marrying this amazing woman on November 9th!
Pictures of trip and surprise reaction.
TL;DR: My amazing fiance made me think we were going running but instead surprised me with a trip to NO to see the Saints - Falcons game.
