I know next to nothing about sailing. Generally speaking, how feasible is it to sail from Miami/South Florida to Puerto Rico or beyond?

Post Body

I am merely curious because I was looking at a map and noticed the dotting of land masses in a southeasterly curve going from Florida all the way to Trinidad/Tobago/Venezuela.

How does one approach foreign countries if you want to, say, stop off for supplies and/or tourism? Is it the same entry procedure as if one had flown in? Customs, etc.? Does it cost money/entry fees??

I have no plans other than a shower thought/question about whether this is even a doable thing? Assuming the pilot/captain had sufficient experience, etc... It just seemed "neat" to me that one might be able to jot from island to island on a boat.
