OSHA 30 vs OSHA Outreach 30
Post Body

Is OSHA 30-hour General Industry the same as OSHA 30 hr OUTREACH General Industry?

I was recommended to take the OSHA 30 hr General Industry course to obtain my DOL card. I was told to go to Utah Safety Counsel to sign up; however, I saw the next class was not for 3 months from now and was around $650. I googled OSHA 30 hr and was presented with multiple online courses with raving reviews. I chose one, through [OSHA Education Center](https://www.oshaeducationcenter.com/osha-30-hour-general-industry/) and the title was OSHA 30-hour General Industry Course but I didn't know that further down the page it said, 'OSHA 30-hour Outreach for General Industry'. Also....how would I know it was possibly different? I just finished the course, and after taking the test, I received my certificate that says, '30-hour OSHA Outreach for General Industry' and 'you're awarded 3 CEU credits.

I'm just really confused because this was an extremely long course, (felt longer than 30 hours) but I'm only getting 3 CEU credits? Also, the in-person class is $650 but I only paid $160. Should have been a red flag from the beginning. Also, I was reading that the 30-hour OSHA test is 100 questions; however, I only had 20 questions on my final. There were many quizzes along the way that I had to answer correctly within 3 chances or I would be locked out and had to pay for and retake the course.

I'm now reading on the OSHA .gov website that says, " It is important to note that this is a voluntary program and does not meet the training requirements for any OSHA standards. Although some states, municipalities, or others may require outreach training as a condition of employment, it is not an OSHA requirement. None of the courses within the Outreach Training Program is considered a certification".

So, are these the same courses? I know OSHA.gov gives approved online Outreach recommendations and one of them is the University of South Florida 'powered by fusion'. The online website I purchased from, OSHA Education Center, has their course material from 'powered by Fusion' and my instructor says, "OSHA Authorized Training" and stamped with the University of South Florida.
