Not even sure if I can explain this properly as I have never seen this before. I have cleared all website data, all caches, history and whatever else I can think of, so here is what the issue is.
I am running Catalina, version 10.15.16 and Safari browser version 13.1.2. I was trying to access my online banking account, so in the address bar, I started to type the bank name, (Scotiabank), but as soon as I enter the letters 'sc', the browser automatically replaces the entire address field with the website I am currently on. But it's ONLY this two combination of letters. I can enter any set of letters, even if random and not actually a valid page, and no issues. As soon as I enter 'sc', it wipes out any text in the address bar and replaces it with the address of the currently viewed page.
I am going crazy trying to figure out how the 'sc' combination of letters automatically selects the current page. It doesn't just select it in the address bar, it actually replaces the bar with the entire address of the page I'm currently on, and not just the usual 'page' without all the fluff after the .com or .ca or whatever.
Please help! I am going nuts and considering dropping Safari if I can't find a resolution to this problem.
