Relocating to Sac from LA (my apologies in advance if Angeleno transplants are insufferable). I’ve got a hybrid-but-mostly-remote job lined up. It will be helpful but not crucial to have easy access to the capitol area. I’m curious if a life entirely without a car is possible, and if so, where to look for housing. I’m in my late 30s, divorcing and not yet ready to mingle but hopefully eventually, into fitness (outdoors and boxing/kickboxing), with a wide range of leisure and cultural interests including theater, live art, various ethnic foods, dancing, and more. I’m also probably going to need a part time evening job (bartender would work, or something to do with manual work). No kids are in the picture, and it’s obviously not on the table in the short term, so school districts aren’t a high priority, though I’m not averse to bumping that up the list in anticipation of it. I like the idea of light rail, though I’m not sure if it’s a workable solution in reality (is it clean? Safe? Reliable? All things that LA metro is NOT). So, with all that in mind, are there any Goldilocks zones that make sense for a person like me and check off most of those asks?
