Most remember Empire day as the day the Empire arose, but you and I know it arose far earlier, it only went public that day."

She holds up a single finger. "One. One person trying to represent all those people. How can one person in a Senate of Thousands hope to effectively represent their people? How can a Senate made up of so many Senators like that hope to ensure their solutions fit the hundreds of thousands of different worlds? How can it hope to solve the variety of problems that you face? It cannot. To try requires Imperial level Bureaucracy, and even the Empire had to decentralize in many aspects. Our galaxy works by working together, not as subjects of a New Republic, but as neighbors, friends, and allies, with the New Republic acting only as a referee and helper, Only to be involved when the problem cannot be solved by the planets themselves."

"I do not intend to fill your ears with false promises of building grand projects here or solving all your problems, promises that will never be kept, or will be kept at the cost of someone else. I promise instead to help when you have problems you ask for assistance solving, to be the good neighbor willing to lend a hand when you need, and to not try and run your planet for you."
