The desert winds whip across the surface of Mirial, a pink sunset in the distance as the day slowly comes to a close. Outside the administration buildings of the city of Ovee Imperial flags lie trodden into the dust, the locals taking a chance to desecrate them as CIS and Rebel alliance flags fly in their place, below them, the planetary flags of Mirial, Morlani, Zygerria, and several other planets and rebel groups flap in the wind.

Inside the hall of the Elders, surrounded by the pink marble and glass structure, the leaders of these groups sit at the far end on a raised dais as camera droids fly about and a large crowd crams into the building.

A stately Mirialan woman slowly stands and approaches a podium as the crowd falls silent in respect.

"Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, many of you know me, for those who do not, I am former Senator Fay Of Ovee, wife of Senator Fi Lor, and a proud citizen of this planet, and it is so incomprehensibly wonderful to finally come home again." The crowd cheers enthusiastically as the woman smiles."What the Empire has done to this planet, is inexcusable, but despite the burning desire for revenge we must follow the wisdom of the Ashla, we must focus not on revenge, but on moving forward. A new ruling council of twenty Elders will be elected. I understand that Lieutenant Governor Tarno of San attempted to defend the people of this world from the cruelties of the Imperial Governor he was forced to serve, and I want to assure his supporters, the election will be free, fair, and open to all." The crowd cheers, though there is a muttering with it."But we must speak of Galatic Issues, the future we face, which is why I have called together the leaders of the," She pauses and sighs. "The Roger Roger, Rebellion." The crowd bursts into cheering as Fay sighs again. "It's a stupid name." She mutters before clearing her throat. "It is my honor, therefore, to present someone that many of you know, a Hero of the Rebellion, just returned from courageously serving on Coruscant to then immediately lead in the Liberation of this planet. She is wise, confident, brave, and beautiful." She pauses. "I may be biased as I am her mother." The crowd laughs. "I present, Code name, the Rebel 'One' Varriss Of Ovee!"

Fay steps back as the crowd cheers excitedly, Varriss steps up to the podium and slowly raises her hood to allow her face to be seen. "Good evening." She says slowly, clearing her throat. "Most of you know who I am, my identity became far less of a secret when I landed on Coruscant to aid in the rescue operations, but, yes. I am Varriss of Ovee, the Commander 'One'. I must admit, it feels unnatural to stand before you all, after years of hiding away and speaking behind a mask. But, it's liberating. For most of my adult life, we have been at war, a terrible, terrible war against the Dark Side, the Bogan, it corrupted the Republic, it fooled the Jedi Order, and it lead many down dark and twisted paths in attempts to destroy it. But the Bogan did not take hold when Clone Wars began, but before it, it corrupted the Republic and turned good intentions into tools for its corruption, many good Senators and Jedi found themselves unwitting tools for a Dark Force that turned good into evil."

Varriss pauses and takes a deep breath. "Myself included." She states sadly. "But we cannot change the past, only learn from it, and as a New Republic forms, we must ensure that the tools that let evil corrupt it, are kept from those who would do harm. Power MUST be kept in the hands of the many, not the few. We must ensure that any Central government is NEVER allowed to become powerful enough to harm our systems in such a way again! It will be subject to our systems and planets! We will not be subject to it! It will work for us, we will not work for it. The military council of the RRR has put me forward to represent the Free System Faction in this new Republic. If you will have me, I will fight to ensure that this New Republic remembers what its role in the Galaxy is!"

The crowd erupts into applause as one by one the leaders of the RRR stand and step forward.

"I am Brasso, Defense Director of the Morlani region, I have fought the Empire for years, and I endorse Varriss."

"I am Admiral Shar of Ovee, and while she is my sister, I am surprisingly still endorsing her."

"I am OOM-Nyne, Commander of the Confederate Resurgence, Varriss has treated us droids with respect in the years I've known her. I endorse her, and call upon her to continue to support Droid Rights."

"I am Iam Taft of the Bonadan Brigade, It was through her father's work that Bonadan's water supply was made drinkable and we started to make the planet livable again. Many would have given up on our world, but he did not. And in the years I've fought beside her, I see that same spark in Varriss. I am honored to stand by her."

"I am Queen Miraj of Zygerria. The Empire destroyed my homeworld and left it in ruins. Varriss has spoken about restoring the economic alliances her father had once laid down that allowed planets like mine to thrive before the war. She has my support and I look forward to rebuilding our region."

Many more spoke in support and as night fell upon the city fireworks lit up the sky. There was much work to do tomorrow, but tonight, it was time to celebrate.
