Post Body

As the 30th of March came around, the work of the KMT would finish. The past month they had been organizing intellectuals, workers, and students to protest the corruption of the local government and the concessionist nature of the Beijing Government. They easily find those who are sympathetic to this, and as the 30th rolls around they go to the streets. They also find that the local triads actually are sympathetic as well, albeit in the aims of strengthening their own organizations not some intellectual pursuit. All this meant that when the protests began, they were large in every section of the city.

KMT agitators and members easily involve themselves in the beginning, raising the protests to new heights. The south of the city fails to gain much size, but the central portions of the city become full of protesters and the northern regions aren't much smaller either. The majority of the government buildings were near the center as well, including the city hall, and the protesters focused on these buildings. As these protests turn into riots and violence rose, the government garrison was forced to respond with violence. They were effective at protecting important buildings and regions however, while more and more people turn against them. However, Chiang Kai-Shek and his forces and agents found themselves swamped by a stronger response than they expected, and chaos erupted. Actors began doing things without orders, and communication broke down. As government forces responded with more and more violence, and protests became more violent, Chiang was forced to call his forces to the most dangerous portion of the city in the north with the least amount of government forces and holed up there, with support from many protesters in the northern region of the city. A request for assistance from Zhejiang was sent, and a response was on the way. Assistance from the Beijing government was also possible, but no one is certain. What is certain, however, is Shanghai has erupted.
