Because the major powers of Europe including Germany have signed the Treaty of Versailles, peace now exists between Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium. As such, all interned soldiers, save for four American, now find themselves at peace, and should be set free. As per the rules of law, the interned soldiers will be delivered to the Dutch border disarmed, and their weapons can be retrieved by each respective government. This includes 33,105 were Belgian, 1,751 British, 1,461 German, and eight French men. Due to an administrative "mistake", the four Americans were released as well. The most notable released internee was Prince Wilhelm Wied of Albania.
The German Kaiser Wilhelm II was not released. Instead, the Dutch marechaussee would deliver him directly to Belgian custody at the southern border after a motion was passed to have him tried for war crimes. The Dutch government also offered the Entente and Belgium to provide judges, or otherwise the defence for the Kaiser, given that a trial held solely by his enemies would be liable to serious bias. His extradition would wait for the exact nature of the trial to be determined.
