As the new year comes around, so too does Ireland's independence from the United Kingdom, something that had been but a dream only a few years ago is now reality, and with much jubilation people have come out to the streets, cheering and singing, finally British rule shall come to an end. The only ones who shall choose the destiny of the Irish people, shall be the Irish people.

There is also the issue of what form of government this new Irish state will be, with the two main choices being either a Representative Republic, or a Constitutional Monarchy. While some do not wish for another overbearing monarch, others do not wish to break from tradition that has been around since the time of the clans.
