If supremacy and competitive edge is a big reason for spending, then wouldn’t the reputation of this game kind of make competitive edge less cool?

Whether right or wrong a lot of players assume that the top players in any given shard are whales. I think it’d feel lame that everyone basically knows I’m a spender as soon as I join the club of people hitting number 1 in arena. I also feel like even talking to your shard chat it’s kinda lame that these people you know have a good guess you spent however much money when you do. If I was whaling I’d like my purchases to be quiet and on the down low, not have all my shardmates know my cash spent number how much its growing.

If I was a whale, and when I have spent on games, it’s admittedly more fun to know that my competition is resourceful F2P. With the numbers of F2P claiming they’re getting everything the first or second time around seemingly decreasing that’d put a damper on that too.

And finally with the whole “CG is milking the whales” thing being such a common meme, that would also make each time spending feel lamer.

But that’s just my thoughts. Any whales able to pitch in? Or anyone with more insight?
