[?] Hi! I'm currently playing on Pokemon Y, and after reading some posts here and there, I've been wondering when exactly is the shiny value determined? Is it before receiving the egg, which would mean the ESV is always the same, or is it when you take the egg from the man, which would mean that the ESV could change depending on when you take it?
I don't know if my question is very clear, but I'm asking this because I've been thinking about soft resetting before receiving the egg, in case the ESV would change each time you take the same egg from the man. However, if the ESV is determined before receiving the egg, there would be no point in doing this.
Also, I've learned recently that the IV's, nature and moves are determined before you receive the egg on a gamefaqs thread hence the reason I'm wondering if that is the case with ESV?
I've hatched 5 shiny ralts so far by running around but unfortunately they never get the IVs I want heh I'm not giving up but I thought I could use an alternative farming method for a change. To be more precise, I thought about doing the method explained on the gamefaq thread to get the right IVs, and then combine Masuda and Soft Resetting to get a shiny Pokemon, in case the ESV is not determined before receiving it!
