Let me start by saying that I have always been horrified of STDs. AIDS, Chlamydia, Gonnorhea, Herpes -- they were all the same to me because of our pathetic sexual education classes in the US.
Yeah, so I was diagnosed with Chlamydia on Wednesday. After my diagnosis, I did what any sane person would do: I freaked the fuck out and started Googling. And it turns out that Chlamydia is just a bacterial infection. This is my first (ok, I hope it's my only) STD, but I've had dozens of bacterial infections. Have you ever had an ear infection? Sinus infection? Well, I have a penis infection.
With 2 pills and seven days, it will be like it never happened. Literally the only risk is if it goes untreated long enough to damage reproductive organs (mostly in women). This is what they need to stress in schools -- if anything seems off about your body, whether it's your nose, your chest or your penis, you should see a doctor. Instead of terrifying children, we should give them the mentality that it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Infections happen. Chlamydia is over stigmatized. I can't speak for any other STDs, I've only researched Chlamydia, but come on people!
TLDR; Chlamydia is just an infection, and will not ruin your life.
