This has been eating away at my heart for a while but it needs to be said.
This story revolves around a friend i had a while before in undergrad. We met because we sat next to each other and he left his water bottle behind. I kept it until the next class to give it back to him to make sure he could find it easily beside me. He shortly revealed to me he had HIV likely from a contaminated needle. I took it well and asked him a couple questions about it, which he answered readily without hesitations.
Needless to say we hit it off really well due to our transparency and he took me to a car meet. I was a loner at the time and was really touched by what he did for me. We kept in touch and he invited me to a discord server for games and networking, which i was very happy to be a part of.
The trouble started when i ended up liking a girl in that discord server. I hit her up in DMs and she told me she preferred my friend with HIV over me. Frustrated, I got more agressive and said that he had an STD, so why would u prefer him over me.
See the fuckup here?
She screenshotted that and sent that to my friend with HIV. He kicked me from the server and from then on we cut off all contact.
I dont really have any excuses for what I did. I just thought out of lust, and now I gott live with this crappy memory for the rest of my life reminding myself im a heartless animal.
Thanks for reading this. And to all people with STDs ill never consider you less than human. Yall made mistakes or got unlucky but I disrespected my friend. I can't take back that broken bridge so Im sorry. I'm sorry and goodbye my friend. I hope he still has that water bottle I saved
