I was on a phone call with my psych yesterday. I have treatment resistant Anxiety & Panic Disorder. We've been trying to treat it for years. CBT, Exposure Therapy, EMDR, and a dozen of meds including Paroxetine, Venlafaxine, Fluoxetine, Escitalopram, Clomipramine, and combinations with Seroquel, Olanzapine, Risperidone, Abilify, Seresta, and Xanax. None of them did fuck all except for high dose Xanax. I responded very badly to Venlafaxine, Clomipramine, Fluoxetine, Olanzapine and Abilify. Horrible meds. My biggest concerns with medications are weight gain and libido/erection problems. If I gain any more weight rather than losing it I get suicidal. And I get extremely depressed if my pecker doesn't work. So those 2 are serious concerns. My psych said that Vortioxetine doesn't have weight gain and sexual problems as side effects and because it does more than just serotonin reuptake, it will work better for anxiety. He says I will feel less anxious and have more energy to do things with this medication. Sounds perfect. But I have a hard time believing it. Also I have a severe phobia for nausea and vomiting. Which are the most common side effects on this med. So whatever happens, I will refuse to take this medication without also being prescribed a strong anti-emetic. So what do you guys reckon? What are your experiences with this medication for severe anxiety and panic disorder? I am currently still on Escitalopram 20mg which doesn't do anything at all but atleast has minimal side effects.
