Hi everyone, I've suffered from a chronic and apparently trearment resistant case of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. Extreme anxiety day in day out with very frequent panic attacks that sometimes last for hours. Medication wise and therapy wise I've tried a lot. I've had: Paroxetine, Escitalopram, Venlafaxine, Fluoxetine, Clomipramine, and various combinations like Escitalopram Olanzapine, Escitalopram Quetiapine, Escitalopram Aripiprazole, and currently I'm trying Escitalopram Buspirone. But I'm not tolerating the buspirone well. The only thing that actually works: Xanax. But you can't take xanax for longer than a week. So I've read there were studies done in patients with MDD & OCD where they took Escitalopram in dosages up to 50mg instead of the recommended maximum dosage of 20mg. And only achieved remission at higher dosages. My question here is, does anyone have experience with taking dosages of Escitalopram higher than 20mg? And did that actually help where 20mg did not? Or are there any doctors or psychiatrists who have experience prescribing higher dosages? How did your patients do afterwards?
