Hey all,
I will gladly delete this if it is not allowed.
A few months ago, I was trying (and failing) to learn some extensive (like hundreds of pages) of training material for a potential part-time work-from-home job (I wasnt actively looking for a job, and it wouldn't have exceeded the SGA anyway).
Anyway, as always, I wasn't absorbing any of the material. Nothing was "sticking." It's not that I couldn't pay attention or focus, like ADHD patients. It's that I don't absorb anything. And I've struggled with this my entire life, throughout elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and during job training.
So after jumping through hoops for months, I finally had an adult cognitive evaluation on Wednesday. I got the results Monday.
The results? The doctor basically said I'm just bad at math because of my anxiety, and that I need to see a therapist. He also diagnosed me with a somatization disorder and said I'm "preoccupied" with my health. What!!!???
Is this normal??!? Do I need to dispute what's in my medical records? If I don't tell the Social Security Administration, could they find out anyway, thus sabotaging my disability case???
For the record, I have quite a few additional physical and mental ailments that have been proven by strong and clear test results that I can't fake. I don't know why the doctor said I am "preoccupied" with my health. I mentioned it ONCE over two appointments, and only because he specifically asked for a medical history. And all my ailments together are what culminated into me applying for SSI, not just one learning disorder.
TIA.
