(Ignore the title; I couldn't think of a good poem about the Isles entire. :-P)
Following the example of r/SRSCanada, we've set up r/SRSUK as a safe space for all who reside in this odd little acrolectal archipelago. It's comfy and cosy, and there's a crackling fire in the corner and plum pudding on the table and a bookcase over there overflowing with Eliot and Austen, and we've a banhammer on standby for any trunks of humours, bolting-hutches of beastliness, swollen parcels of dropsies, huge bombards of sack, or stuffed cloak-bags of guts with not near so much heart as ear-wax.
It's also a super-spiffing spot for UK and Irish SRSers to discuss issues of intersectionality as applied in their own countries. There's an unfortunately severe dearth of such discussion on these interwebs—most analysis of racism, say, in particular, tends to focus on manifestations in the US. Here, we can talk about such things with quite a different focus. :]
One final note: we've no qualms about immigration. If you're not from the archipelago, you're more than welcome to join us! We won't even mind if you use the wrong hands for your knife and fork, or if you haven't memorised the entire honorific system yet! We promise!
