Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, so apologies if not.
I’m a member of a data migration project at work and volunteered myself (at the advice of my manager) to lead on data mapping etc. However, the new system will require an interface with a Lab system to retrieve Sampling results once they’ve completed.
I have very little experience with SQL, but my manager was very competent but has since left. So I’m in a bit of a predicament as he’s no longer able to assist me. But I want to develop my skills and also, deliver where I can.
The new system will need to run a job (daily, via middleware (SAP BODS) to look for any new sample results, retrieve elements of that data, convert to XML and be loaded into a Sample Results table within the new system.
I have created the SQL code to create the Views within the Lab Database (LIMS), containing all relevant fields from relevant tables.
My question is - is there a way I can include only new results? I.e. I don’t want every single result (as early as 2001) to show. Only results from say 1 week ago. Is it just a simple where clause for the Sample Date?
Sorry, I’m new to data and SQL, so my apologies if this is complete and utter nonsense.
Also, anything else you may be able to advise on that I may have overlooked would be great. Thanks again.
