Leveling up, bots get harder

This is my first playthrough and I think I’m level 25. Without a pvp component (never played live) is there any incentive to ever use better ammo? When I watch YouTube’s of live they talk a lot about the importance of good ammo.

At this point, I’ve got sain and am only on default bots but I’m able to put everything down pretty ok including bosses. I’m just buying rounds from the traders too, nothing special.

Do bots get stronger as I level up or no? If I increase their difficulty, I assume it doesn’t make em tougher, just smarter, better aim.

Is there a point to good ammo in sp?
