Design Discussion - Phyiscal and Magical Damage (or, "The Death of Crit Ymir")
Post Body

Although less so now, this was a hot point of contention at one point. There comes good reason that HiRez made the change to have the classes govern whether a character deals physical or magical damage given the items and all. But when it comes to flavor over design, there are a few characters where the distinction doesn't quite seem to fit.

  • Which characters do you believe have an odd choice of damage typing? (Ao Kuang, Ares, Terra, etc)
  • If the damage types weren't based on class types, which characters do you think would be the most problematic having items from the other side?
  • What chaos could ensue if any character could buy any item regardless of physical/damage typing (not including role-restricted items)?
