In sum, Kevin is concerned about scammers. Here are the highlights:
- Our team has been paying attention to the latest internet fraud development, analysing data through machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, and manually reviewing and collecting data from user reports to optimise our protection system continually. And recently, we have allocated even more resources to integrate a third-party detection system recommended by the industry and recruit relevant workforce.1
- The new system has been integrated and started operating in November. Its main job is to block suspicious devices before they create new accounts. Although the results were remarkable in the first few days of its launch, some legitimate users using VPN connections [. . .] were also blocked.1
1: emphasis mine.
It is good that Kevin is trying to cut down on scammers, though it is unfortunate that his poor communication skills created unnecessary confusion. If anything, since November, I have noticed an uptick in spam. I have the ten worst offending countries blocked, but it seems every other day I get a letter from invariably Ghana or Gambia with some scam. This past week, I have received six scam letters, certainly higher than there used to be, anecdotally of course.
