Dear reader,

I'm Jackson. I have been active on Slowly since April of '21 and it has been a blast. Each day, I look forward to the varied and valued perspectives of so many people around the globe--and I have learned of the dreams, struggles, minds, and towns of many. Maybe you'd like to add your own to that? I would love to hear from you, wherever you are.

Here's a quick primer on me and my interests:

• I have long enjoyed tropical gardening and I'm a great admirer of the life and career of David Fairchild. I have tried emulating his former home, the Kampong, in my own garden. Made Wijaya and Raymond Jungles are my favorite garden designers.
• I love architecture, urban planning, interior design, and virtually anything that informs the makeup of our homes and cities. My favorite architect is Alfred Browning Parker, of Miami.
• My job involves restoring beaches and coastline resilience in Florida.
• My favorite movie is "Tampopo," dir. Juzo Itami. I enjoy older Japanese films generally.
• I am one of those people that can get drunk on books, as others can get drunk on gin. My favorite authors include Michel Houellebecq, Mikhail Bulgakov, Yukio Mishima, and Kobo Abe.
• Dance is one of my great pleasures, especially Lindy Hop.
