It seems like my GI who is rated a top Boston doc has no interest in ruling out things in a timely manner.
I waited 5 months to be seen for an upper endoscopy-- 2.5 months for the intake appointment with the NP, another 2.5 until the procedure. I brought all test results from urgent care to the appointment, a detailed calendar or symptoms, lack of results from low fodmap, gf and dairy free.
No stool analysis, bloodwork, or breath tests before the procedure and no advice on managing symptoms. Only got the bloodwork and stool testing done after the procedure and they initially wanted to make me wait another 6-8 weeks for follow up despite all results being in within 2 weeks. I pushed for a date 5 weeks after procedure.
Out of frustration I bought the Trio Smart test with lactulose (given to me by a not so good ND 6 weeks ago) and finally did it. Positive for hydrogen sibo.
My follow up with the GI doc is 2 weeks away. How do i politely push for a glucose test at the time of the visit, instead of being told to wait another 6-8 weeks? This all started with food positioning like symptoms 10 months ago but i feel unheard by my doctor.
I know they'll have me work on motility or send me to a specialist but I hear so many success stories (even with relapses in sibo) using a combo of rifaximin, herbs, motility drugs, and diet changes. It's unacceptable to be waiting this long for such easy testing to be ordered.
