People were a tad rude on an earlier post. I basically mentioned that because I am a black woman don't fit into a "type" in general it's harder to date, meet or even befriend people here longterm. People like Asian girls, blonde girls, brunette athletic girls, even BBW black women. The Bay Area is kinda hostile (post-1997) to black people and like the first 3. I know can't blame it on race of people – it's more of the tech culture which seems to have congregated a ton of people who just don't like black people. I have done fine even in very white conservative cities, other major U.S. cities, Europe and Asia so I can't really blame broad demographics – it's more so culture. I know about tech culture very well because I am in it as an engineer so I don't say this in vacuum.

Many tech guys my age (Engineers, PMs, designers) also generally don't like me (maybe resent is better) because I am more educated and can out code many of them, and that in general intimidates them and they are kind of insufferable– I know we all have our insecurities but tech bros like taking them out on me as an easy target while they simp for white women –but that's a story for another day. College was great and men in engineering classes with me were great and fun and older men have been very good mentors to me though so it's not "everyone" It's just a cultural thing I guess.

A male doctor or lawyer or plumber wouldn't think negatively of me being a good engineer. They would find it interesting.

I am inside all day coding, I sometimes surf, walk, and go to the grocery store but I like being alone here. I am forced to be in the Bay Area for work but you never know. I will likely move cities in a few years. I am not looking for casual sex or to do anything with couples. More power to you though.
