Being away from Reddit for the last several months showed me that I miss looking for my next best friend and I didn't think I'd be back here, but I'm glad to be. Sure, there are rough people here, like guys who can't take a hint over drinks, or impromptu, unwarranted therapy sessions, but overall, I like meeting new stories.
I missed Reddit for the stories about exes who were cannibals, why you have four cats, the reveal of, "So, I've been meaning to break up with him, but I think he's flying over to propose." I've missed you for the fun laughs at coffee shops, soju in dive bars like Dan Sung Sa (let me know if you know its other name!), mediocre milk tea (without pearls, please) with nervous talks about how meeting people is hard, talks about how you did ayahuasca and planned to join a monastery, and long drives in distant places with the casual joke about hiding bodies. I've missed Reddit for the best kinds of people who make me feel understood, the friends I've made years ago still around today, the 1 in 20 chance of being right about believing in a stranger, and just having a good talk about our days.
Hi, I'm a 29/M SEAsian working in SF, living in the East Bay, am an ambivert working on a story, poetry, doing chores like watering plants, dogsitting, cat-caring, adding to my reading list, and looking for someone who makes all pretense effete.
Let's trade stores, go to Tamper Room for that Zine Making Workshop, appreciate art at museums, build a map for places nobody should eat at, talk about things our therapists would say about our friends, scream poorly into microphones, or: start with a coffee or a drink around Montgomery station after work sometime?
