I’m one of the (un)lucky tech workers who was laid off a few months ago. To be completely honest, I’ve been loving it. After a long stint at a well known company, I’ve embraced this opportunity to take some extended time off, really recharge the batteries and not rush into my next step. I know it won’t last forever so I’m trying to make the most of it.
It’s easy to stay at home, run errands, hit the gym and spend the day never talking to another person so I’ve tried to stay in touch with old colleagues. Also, the one aspect I do miss of work is the social part.
I’m looking to expand my circle of friends, particularly those who have more freedom to do things during the daytime on weekdays whether it’s as simple as grabbing coffee or lunch to something more active like a hike, bike ride, tennis/golf, etc. I like to stay active and having company is good impetus.
Some personal background since I’m a total stranger on the internet and you/I want to avoid unsavory characters: Asian American, well educated, success tech professional, decently traveled, from SoCal but lived in NorCal for many years, extroverted, no criminal record (but did flee campus cops in college for a harmless prank). I aspire to be a gentleman, love to laugh (maybe a little too loudly).
