Hey everyone. I had my site abc(dot).com which I 301 redirected to a more brandable domain (xyz(dot)com) around 8 months back, but now I want to revert it back to the original domain.
I've heard that 301 redirects are permanent, but has anyone done it? Do you have any advice?
I've come across two possible methods:
- Remove the 301 Redirect Rule from the
.htaccess
file or server settings of the original domain, so that the redirect is cancelled. - Set up a 301 Redirect from back to ABC(dot).com. This will create a confusion and an unnecessary loop, but I've heard it might be the preferred way.
If I simply remove the 301 redirect, will the link juice stop going to the second site in a few months? Some people have told me that since 301s are permanent this might not happen
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!
