Hello, my boss's company website is managed by some ridiculous company. Id like to host and manage it for him but I'm wondering if pointing the domain to a different server would affect its "ranking"? I don't know what its called but I don't want switching the server to affect/or in anyway change the placement/search results/ranking of the website.

Is this something I need to worry about or it does not affect placement in search engines?

When I type in my bosses company name in google "company name" it appears as the first search result, likely as its a business in my town. I have to ensure changing the server will not in anyway affect our search ranking/placement.
