Why didn't Sega market the Genesis as 32-bit?
Post Body

The m68k is arguably 32-bit, or at least could be arguably marketed as 32-bit.

Edit: CPU "bitness" is usually gauged by register size. The m68k used 32-bit registers. To the outside world, it was 32-bit; I believe early UNIX workstations such as the Sun-1 ran 32-bit UNIX on the 68000. It had three 16-bit ALUs. This is Motorola called it 16/32-bit.

Edit edit: While the N64 used the 64-bit capable MIPS VR4300 CPU, I am unaware of any game code that wasn't 32-bit. But the N64 was obviously marketed as 64-bit.
