I have been troubleshooting an issue on a few of my DP's over the last few days which has be stumped and frustrated.
When attempting to run an Upgrade Operating System Task sequence from a clients Software Center the Task sequence fails with 0x80070002 on the "Upgrade Operating System" step.
To start troubleshooting I tried the following in relation to the 0x80070002 error: * Checked the Network Access Account is set under the Configure Site Components - Software Distribution (even tried removing the account, resetting password and re-adding it again. * Checked the "Allow clients to connect anonymously" in the DP's General Properties * Added the Network Access Account to the "Manage Access Accounts on the specific Operating System Upgrade Package
Since none of these fixed the issue I went to the smsts.log file for more details. https://pastebin.com/tgb28TnE
What got my attention right away was: "Failed to run the last action: Upgrade Operating System. Execution of task sequence failed. The system cannot find the file specified. (Error: 80070002; Source: Windows) TSManager 3/29/2018 9:16:21 AM 6688 (0x1A20)"
For this reason I removed the content (BGS000CE) from the distribution point and re-distributing. Once the content was showing distributed I attempted to run the task sequence once again with the same result. I also checked to make sure the client it looking to the specific DP via the client logs.
From here I went down several other rabbit holes which had not been useful in the slightest including a removal of the Distribution Point Service and re-install of the DP with a re-distribution of the content. This also resulted in the same output in the smsts.log file when attempting to run the Upgrade Operating System Task Sequence.
I also tried re-creating the Operating System Upgrade package and creating a new Task Sequence, but that was also a no-go.
Any suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
