I had made a post last week and received lots of recommendations, but it just muddled my opinion a bit more than expected. I am struggling to pick between the following devices, and I have included a list of essential features for me and things that I would possibly use but aren't necessary. I'm buying in Canada.
Options: Steam Deck, ROG Ally, RP4 pro, Odin 2 Pro (maybe Max), new Anbernic device
Essential features:
•Play retro games from NES to PS2/GameCube (games such as Def Jam Vendetta/Time splitters Future Perfect/Tony Hawk series)
•Streaming from PS5
•Solid build
Supplementary Features I'd use
•Ability to play my Steam Library
Currently, I can get a refurbished Ally Z1 Extreme for 499$ with a one year warranty, which moved it forward ahead of the pack but I've read mixed reviews. Not sure if the LCD steam deck is worth it with the OLED version being released, but I don't think I can justify the much higher price. The Odin 2 looks ideal versus the other Android devices but I'm not sure if the 100$ difference between it and the Ally make the Ally a better choice.
Help me out with your experiences and opinions!
