r36s questions... logo.bmp, function button?

I got an r36s here which is working great.
I followed /u/onionsaregross instructions and added the newer arkos. I'm trying to add a boot logo but I'm not able to get it working. I don't think even the original arkos2 boot logo shows. Anyone get it working? I got the loading logo to work. Here are my images.
I also noticed that many functions are mapped to weird button combos that should be mapped to the function button. i.e. bringing up the menu in retroarch (should be just fn), and safe power off (should probably be fn power). Is there a way to remap this?
