why is the front camera so goddamn bad in low light settings?

it looks very grainy, or it looks over proccsessed that i look like a painting.. the s21 fe had a better front camera in low light (my previous phone) but ive tried taking selfies with people in low light and they come out looking like dog shite. its honsetly one of the only let downs i have about this phone. the front camera looks good in good lighting but quickly degrades in low lighting, you wouldnt expect this for their best spec phone...
