Was anyone else upset at how underused Alan was in Season 2?

I mean, he was all-in in season 1, and here, it's like he's only just barely along for the ride. It just seems like they could have developed his character or utilized it in some other way. In all honesty, his grandmother seems to have more to do with the central plot than he does.
