After watching, I got so many Breakfast at Tiffany's vibes! I love the movie, which of course also has New York City as a character, though a very different neighborhood. But I saw some other interesting similarities:

- a female lead character living a somewhat aimless and hedonistic life after past trauma

- who has a weirdly dependent relationship with her cat (she is reliant on it but refuses to take "ownership") and

- an ex who pops up and with whom she has an ambivalent relationship and

- a male friend (who on the surface is much more put together and "normal" than the lead) who is in a similar situation to hers who starts off in a problematic relationship from which he breaks himself off after a dramatic argument

- both of whom rely on each other to be "healed" in a way

Plus, as someone pointed out in another thread, there is an actual Breakfast at Tiffany's connection- George Peppard was married to the actress who played Ruth and there was a photo of the two of them shown in her apartment!
