Running past walkers
Post Body

Hi there, im a keen runner in my local city, typically running anywhere between 3-5km per month. Although I keep to the same route for all my runs, other users of the trails seem oblivious to the fact that I will be doing all my speedwork on this route and so I often find myself having to pass walkers/loiterers and sex workers.

How can I announce myself to these other users of the path system? In an ideal world the human body would have evolved to allow some method of communicating my presence to others, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case.

In the past I've employed some obvious signs of my presence such as "taking heavier steps" (to the detriment of my poor shins, what a sacrifice!) or "scuffing my feet intentionally" (and leading to me having to replace my precious Alphaflys after every run). However, some of these path users are so wrapped up in their own meaningless meanderings that they don't seem to be able to register my clear and well thought out communications.

After viewing a nature documentary I've taken to dressing up like a hawk on my runs and trying to scare the local bird population into making as much noise as possible to alert others in the area of my apex path status, but to mixed success.

My final option seems to be carrying a cat with me as I understand that "cat calling" is well received by all...but I haven't found an amenable feline companion yet.

Please help as I'm afraid I may injure someone through my shear physical prowess soon
