Weight in relation to running times, thoughts?

I was using a calculator that suggested each pound lost could be a few seconds per mile in a race. I’m really trying to qualify for Boston so I cut my leg off and i dropped at least 20 lbs right away but my runs have been suffering.

Does anyone know any good gels that will help? I’ve been eating toothpaste during runs for the easily digestible sugars .
