Players like Charlie Cale, Lancaster, Toole, Tim Ryan, Flook, Josh Canham, Rory Scott, etc. may be on the edge of the Wallaby squad and not get picked, but need more game time and development in the Aussie system at a higher level. It's crazy that a Super Rugby player's professional season ends in June for those who miss international selection. From what I have seen, there are no Australia A games planned this year yet. I reckon this is crucial to building our depth, especially for a Lions tour next year
Why would Cale, Ryan, Lancaster or Flook in particular not be in the Wallabies?! 4 years out from a World Cup, 10-ish tests from a Lions series, youโre gonna wanna blood the best young talent now in a big squad with a good mix of youth and experience. V Wales and Georgia you want to see if those boys can make the step up, then re-balance for Rugby Champs and then again for EOY tour. Iโd definitely expect to see those 4 in at least. Flook is one of only two top quality 13s alongside Ikitau who is genuinely world class, Cale is a Massively promising 8 who could cover 6 and Ryan and Lancaster are freaks with proper pace and killer instinct the Wallabies have lacked out wide.
