My bf spent 4 years in the Army and is now in the National Guard, He's been rucking every weekend for the past 3-4 years, usually about 10-15 miles at a time. His rucks are either on the roads around our town or he just takes off into the woods with a compass. I'd like to get him something rucking related for Christmas, but I'm at a total loss on what would be good. He already has the Alice? pack and a tan & camo Marine Corps ruck, so equipment wise I think he is good.
He likes the Soloman boots, but he has a few pairs already, He is VERY picky with socks, so that's out. I was thinking of good GPS with maps? Or possible a Camelback with a built in water filter, since he said he tops off in the streams when hes low on water.
Sometimes we go to the National Park near us and I'll take my mountain bike out for 3 hours or so while he rucks, so maybe even a set of good, waterproof 2-way radios?
