Owner: what should I ask the boarder, look out for etc. for my 3 month old pup?
Post Body

Hi, like the title says, I have a new puppy. She’s 14 weeks and I have to board her for a week while I go out of town. I’ve had this trip booked for over a year and was originally planning to get a pup when I got back to town but my Zuri came as a surprise and I couldn’t say no. Originally my breeders sister in law who has another pup from the same litter was supposed to board her for me, but she’s not being super responsive and I leave on Thursday so I’m planning to use a nice couple nearby that work from home.

This is my first experience and I want to make sure I’m not forgetting to check anything. I told them about all of her habits (see teething and very chewy/nippy right now). I checked that they won’t have other dogs around since she gets her final vaccine this week and needs at least a week for the antibodies. I checked their reviews and history.

Is there anything I’m forgetting?

Comments

please leave them clear instructions typed up and sectioned by time of day/activity. If your dog has a routine, plot it out using bullet points. In different sections mention food (how much per feeding), walks (how long), interactive play (how long), and wake up/bed times. Be as specific as possible! Tell them that it is your first time being away from her and you’d appreciate 2-3 pictures throughout the day if possible. Also, if she has a favorite toy, bring it and also bring a sweater or shirt you wore for a whole day before and leave it with her so she’s comforted by your scent. It’s weird, but I’ve heard it works!
