Sadly for the first time in all my years of watching dogs I had to cancel a stay last minute. I came home after my run & found my Great Dan unable to stand up on his own. He was 12 years old & I knew this day was coming but didn’t know when. I had a clients dog already here & a new dog set to drop off in about 3 hours. They were leaving the next day so they had 15 hours before they needed to head to the airport. I reached out to Laps Of Love who come to your house to help with end of life to only find out they could not come for 4 days. Even though they had said they could come same day & for extra fee could come in 2 hours. So we started hunting for a place we could take him. I called the new dog owner to inform them of what was going on & asked if they had a backup sitter or if I could at least pick the dog up from them any time in the morning. They found a new sitter & I was off the hook. This made the roughest night I can recall a bit easier. I am not sure if I should let it go or reach out & offer them a free stay to make up for it. Also the lost of my dog has made me rethink doing this work. This has been way harder than even losing my father. Have a Great Day.
