I am taking a two week trip soon and reached out to a sitter that agreed to watch my dogs. It’s $90 a night so I said I’d pay after the meet and greet because I want to make sure she and her pets are the right fit. My dogs are so friendly but not all dogs get along. They also have a rough/ crazy play style and one of them has medical issues that I want to discuss beforehand.
The sitter said a meet and greet is not required but I absolutely stand by decision to have one and pushed to have it asap. She could not meet until two days before my trip. I am worried that she’ll accept another client and we will lose our spot but on the other hand, I don’t want to pay $1290 plus rover fees for a booking that might not happen if the meet and greet doesn’t go well.
If I just pay now and end up needing to cancel, is it hard to get that money back? She has a lot of 5 star reviews but my dogs are my life and I won’t leave them with a stranger or someone I don’t trust.

Again, agree here. I always do meet and greets, and will often pop by a few times just to make sure I can come into the home and leash the dogs without the owners.
