Would love any suggestions on how to handle this. I handled a sitter on rover to watch my dog for ~26 hours while I my wife and I travelled to a wedding. We sent very very detailed guide for my dog that basically boiled down to
Let him sit around house from 9 am - 3 pm Let him out to bathroom Walk him around 7 Give calming chew as there are fireworks nearby that night Put to bed around 10 after fireworks
So she said everything made sense and appreciated the notes. Left post itās all around the house, bought coffee for her, and even offered to pay above fee as we wanted her to stay the night
Today, we left this morning and see he is in his crate as we were watching the dog camera. I text her to see how the dog is and she is saying how he was on a walk and did great, etc
Check in couple hours later and she said heās super tired and is just sleeping (as I see heās wide awake in his crate for at least 90 mins)
Then I ask how he did with his calming chew. She stops responding as fast and said he ate it no problem (note, heās been in his crate for 3.5 hours alone). I specifically ask when he had treat and she gave a time that I can see he was in his crate for and no one is home with him. Have full video recordings for the entire time
I tell her I know sheās not there and ask someone to run over and let him out. Shortly after my family member gets there, she runs into my house, grabs her stuff, and runs back out
Update: in rewatching the video, I see she didnāt give him water for ~6 hours
Update 2: I greatly appreciate the suggestions and kind words but several people on here are perfect evidence for why I will never use this service again. Blaming me for questioning why someone lied to me? Saying itās my fault I wasnāt clear my dog should have water? Saying I booked incorrectly and āboardingā doesnāt mean anything more than a walk? Thank you again but Iāll never risk my dog being with people like those on here attacking me
I'm so sorry this was your experience. It's not how I, or most sitters do things. I really can't imagine why I would keep a dog in a crate, unless that is where they should be when I am not there.
