History: I had wind and hail damage a few months ago. I called a roofer to check it out and he recommended making a claim due to substantial hail damage.
Claim went through and the paid out 25k with little argument. They did refuse to pay for water damage to my kitchen ceiling, saying that it was from wind driven rain when i know it was related to a toen off piece of flashing since I was on the roof trying to stem.the water flow.
The roofer is encouraging me to hire a PA because there is some flashing, a couple hundred square ft porch roof, and some boots not included in the initial pay out amount and insurance is fighting against adding them. Also, they won't add verbiage to the scope of work acknowledging that they will pay fair market value for a code required re-deck.
Lastly, he feels the PA may be able to get coverage on the gutters, because he feels the chances of substantial hail damage to the roof and not the box gutters and possibly fascia is pretty slim.
So, is this guy just trying to maximize his payout? Or are these legitimate concerns? PA will cost me 1500, no percentage.
Thanks for any advice or insight.
Tldr: Roofer thinks I should hire a PA, is this a good idea?
