Seiken Densetsu 3 English patch with 3 players?

Hello all! I was wondering if a seiken densetsu 3 with english patch for 3 players was possible?
I tried using the 3 player hack thats on romhacking.net but unfortunately it does not work with my rom. I even added a header using SNEStuff and it still doesnt work. It sucks because its hard finding co op adventure games with three players. (I have 2 little siblings).
Any info would be appreciated,

Edit: I'm a dumb dumb and forgit I needed to turn on snes multitap under the input section
