I'm learning romanian and I like poetry, so I started reading Eminescu. I really like what I've read so far, especially the story poem "Wretched Dionis", you can probably tell by my username, anyway, I found this really nice poem which is also very short, called "To the star", "La steaua". This is the last paragraph:
Tot astfel cînd al nostru dor
Pieri în noapte-adîncă,
Lumina stinsului amor
Ne urmărește încă.
So is it when our love's aspire
Is hid beneath night's bowl,
The gleam of its extinguished fire
Enkindles yet our soul.
I understand what it says but not what it means. Any thoughts on how to interpret it? What did he mean when he says that the light of love still follows us even though it is extinguished? How can this be, in what way?
I hope you have some answers, you probably learned this at school as I learned about our poets, thanks in advance.
