My pervious rant here lead to multiple people suggesting that I read The Kiss Quotient as the FMC was on the spectrum- just like me. And I did. And now I’m here making a dramatic post because it was a profound experience for me.
No spoilers really, it was just so… different to read a boon with a character who’s struggles were relatable. To read about someone who was struggling with things just like me. To hear the accusations I hurl towards myself come from someone else. It was very much like that therapy thing where they tell you not to say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t say to your friend.
Of course there was a part who knew that I too was deserving of love and acceptance… but most of me never believed it and I hadn’t stopped trying to change for others. It was just so different to read about someone doing the same thing. Much easier to see the flaws when it’s not about you I guess…
Anyway, sorry for getting all cheezy but I wanted to thank you all for the recommendation and for being an amazing community ❤️
